In seemed like the winter would never end. Here it is May 3 and we're just getting out on the water for the first time. Carol came by explaining the ice was just out, so perhaps it was good that we had waited. This is my 18th year skiing at Dubes, and possibly the 17th year our `97 Ski Nautique has been early on the pond. I love it! The course is in fine shape, a few missing guide buoys and gate balls: no big deal. Three ball on the outbound is either missing or underwater. Seeing as the other five were only an inch or two above; 3-ball may make a re-appearance once the water (roaring over the dam) drops down a bit. Water temp was 55 degrees; maybe 58 by the North drop ("Dan Lausten") marker. Bottom-line: It was awesome. The upper-60s air made it feel nice in the course. Brooke, Sue, and I all opted for just four solid passes. And I think I can speak for them and myself saying... that was perfect! High-fives and smiles all around. Dubes pond - a kind, safe, drama-free zone.

Ali Ski Tip (June 2012)
Until you watch this video, especially the sixth pass at half-speed at the end, you really may not appreciate how much reactive energy is stored in the tip of your ski when you cut the wake table.

May 2012
Well into May 2012, most of us have started to find our rhythm, but not yet push our limits. The first tourney is less than a month away! Our 2012 video playlist is here.

A Perfect -38
With Ali spotting and Shep driving, Dave ran a sweet -38 South into a +10 headwind. Times were 7.13/16.98, +0.03 end over actual. The subsequent 1.5 at -39.5 wasn't as pretty, but hey!
